Hochul pushes affordability record in final days before vote

Gov. Kathy Hochul traveled from Albany to New York City on Thursday to meet with voters in the final days of the election. She stopped at a firehouse in Mount Vernon for a thirty-minute exclusive interview with News 12 senior reporter Tara Rosenblum.

Hochul focused on her administration's economic record. She cited efforts to lower auto insurance premiums, reduce taxes on middle-class residents, and issue energy rebates. She also pointed to policies aimed at schools, including a restriction on cellphones and expanded access to breakfast and lunch programs.

“My message is very clear,” Hochul said. “I've been so honored to be the governor of this state. It's a very diverse state, and I understand the stresses that families are going through. I lived many of them.”

The governor described her approach to governance as personal and direct. “I'm a fighter to my core,” she said, “and when I have to stand up and fight.. to make sure families have money back in their pockets and protect our kids, I know how to take care of people.”

Hochul urged voters to participate in the upcoming vote. She stated that no one should assume the election is settled. “I'd be honored to have the support of everyone, and no one should stay home. No one should say this election is over because there is still so much on the line.”

The interview also covered her new legislation targeting human trafficking. She outlined ongoing plans to address mental health and homelessness across the state. More of the conversation with Rosenblum will air on News 12 on Friday.
