Residents in southern Colorado will experience a sharp drop in temperature early Saturday as a cold front crosses the state. The system will lower high temperatures by 10 to 15 degrees, pushing values below seasonal averages. Winds will intensify concurrently, with gusts reaching 40 to 45 mph across the region.

The National Weather Service expects total rainfall accumulations between 0.10 and 0.75 inches. Tropical moisture shifting east will deliver this precipitation to the area. Forecasters anticipate dry conditions and typical seasonal temperatures by the following week.

Current conditions vary by location. In Colorado Springs, Friday temperatures will range from a low of 51 degrees to a high of 73 degrees. A few showers are possible in the early morning, followed by a drier afternoon with partial sunshine. Pueblo is forecast to reach a high of 81 degrees after a low of 55 degrees. On-and-off showers will continue through the day and evening.

Canon City will see a high of 75 degrees after a low of 54 degrees. A temporary pause in moisture is expected by Friday afternoon, though the front will bring new moisture Friday night into the weekend. Woodland Park will remain above seasonal averages on Friday with a high of 56 degrees and intermittent showers. The plains will see a high of 83 degrees and a low of 60 degrees with possible stray showers.

Hazardous conditions persist in the mountains. The San Juan Mountains and the southwestern corner of the state continue to receive heavy rainfall. Flood watches, severe thunderstorm watches, and flood warnings remain in effect. Heavy rain and flood risks are expected to continue through the weekend in the western slope.

Snow levels will likely drop once the cold front passes. The weekend is expected to bring cold rain and possibly snow to higher elevations. The plains could receive substantial rainfall as temperatures fall and strong winds set in.
