Many locations outside Boston recorded sub-freezing temperatures this morning as a cold air mass settled over the region. A warm front is currently moving into the area, bringing increased cloud cover and a gradual temperature recovery. The afternoon high today is expected to reach the mid to upper 50s Fahrenheit.
The warming trend will continue through the weekend. Forecasters anticipate temperatures pushing into the mid 60s to near 70 degrees tomorrow. A similar range is expected on Friday, though a cold front will slip through early in the morning. This system will bring a patch of clouds and a brief spot sprinkle before returning sun for most of the day.
The wind direction will shift to the northwest Friday, with gusts reaching 20 to 30 miles per hour. Despite the incoming cooler air, mild conditions will persist through early to mid afternoon. Temperatures are projected to decline rapidly Friday evening, setting the stage for a cooler Halloween.
The forecast for Halloween is solid, with high temperatures capping out in the upper 50s. Sunshine will dominate the day, accompanied by a chilly breeze from morning until midday. The wind is expected to diminish in the afternoon, leaving light winds and dry conditions for the evening. Temperatures will fall into the 40s once the sun sets, creating favorable conditions for outdoor activities.
The following Sunday will see a rebound in temperature, with highs reaching the low 60s. Monday will remain mild, with readings in the mid to upper 60s. The next chance of wet weather is not expected until sometime around mid-next week.
