Apple plans to ship iOS 27.2 next week. The update marks the next major software release for iPhones. It follows iOS 27.1, which was limited to the new iPhone Duo model.

The update includes three distinct changes to existing apps. The most notable addition involves FaceTime. Dual Capture, a feature introduced in iOS 27, currently allows users to show both front and rear cameras during one-on-one calls. iOS 27.2 extends this capability to group video calls.

Users can activate the feature by tapping the Flip button. The rear camera goes live while the front camera remains active. This allows participants to see the user and their surroundings simultaneously during multi-person conversations.

The Apple Podcasts app will receive a restructured home screen. The existing Up Next queue will be split into two separate sections. The first section, labeled New Episodes, will list the latest releases from shows a user follows. The second section, labeled Continue Playing, will list shows a listener has started but not finished.

A 9to5Mac writer who tested the beta version described the new layout as a major improvement over the previous cluttered design. The writer noted that the change helps users track their listening progress more effectively.

The Apple TV app on iPhone will also gain user profiles. While profiles have existed on Apple TV hardware for some time, this is their first appearance on iOS. Users will see a selection screen upon first launch after the update. This screen can be disabled if not needed.

Profiles allow the app to adjust content recommendations based on the selected viewer. When a child’s profile is active, the app filters content to show only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. This setup keeps adult viewing queues uncluttered and prevents children from seeing unsuitable material on a parent’s device. The update adds new features to six iPhone apps in total.
