Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy returned to game action on Saturday night in Fayetteville, Arkansas, nearly six months after being injured in a shooting.
Hardy entered the match late in the first quarter against the No. 23 Tigers. He ran for 1,649 yards and 16 touchdowns during the 2025 season, setting a school record for the latter statistic.
The 20-year-old was attending a concert in Laurel, Mississippi, on May 10 when a bystander was hit by a bullet. Police arrested a suspect and charged them with two felony counts of aggravated assault. Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz stated this week that Hardy required a metal rod to be inserted into his femur.
Jamal Roberts, a senior, served as the primary rusher for Missouri while Hardy recovered. Roberts finished the weekend with 867 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. He leads the Southeastern Conference in rushing yards per game with an average of 123.9.
Hardy last faced Arkansas in Fayetteville in November of last year. In that contest, the Tigers won 31-17. Hardy carried the ball 27 times for 157 yards and scored a touchdown in that matchup.
