Jayson Tatum drained a 17-foot jumper as the overtime clock hit zero, giving the Boston Celtics a 125-124 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night. The winning shot capped a 40-point performance for Tatum, who went 10 of 20 from the field and 18 of 22 from the free-throw line.

The game remained tight throughout, with neither team holding a lead greater than eight points. Brooklyn took a 109-104 advantage with under three minutes remaining in regulation, but Boston rallied. Derrick White finished with 16 points, while Paul George contributed 20. The Celtics have won their last three games after blowing a 22-point lead in their season opener against Detroit.

Brooklyn's Mikel Brown Jr. tied the game in regulation with a three-pointer at the 0.2-second mark. The sixth overall pick from Louisville finished with 17 points. However, Brown missed a layup with 2.3 seconds left in overtime, setting up Tatum for the final basket. Michael Porter Jr. led the Nets with 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Julius Randle added 24 points. The Nets drop to 0-4 on the season.

The finish was determined by free throws. Boston's Mitchell Robinson missed two shots with three seconds left in regulation, allowing Brown the opportunity for the tying three. Robinson, a career 50.7% free-throw shooter, finished 1 of 4 from the line in the game and stands at 2 of 8 for the season.

The Celtics struggled from deep in the first half, making only 2 of 16 three-point attempts. They improved in the second half, hitting 9 of 22. Boston hosts the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. Brooklyn travels to Detroit to play the Pistons on Friday.
