Vanderbilt leads the betting markets by 18.5 points in its 2026-27 season opener, a margin that reflects the team's recent dominance in the series. The Commodores will host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET at Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tennessee.

The wagering lines show a total over/under set at 155.5 points. This figure suggests the bookmakers expect a high-scoring affair despite the lopsided spread. Vanderbilt finished the previous campaign with a 27-8 record, establishing itself as a top-tier program within the Southeastern Conference.

The current matchup serves as the second leg of a home-and-home series. In the first meeting this past December, the Commodores defeated the Demon Deacons 98-67 on the road. That performance set the stage for the current odds, with the home team returning as the clear favorite for the rematch.

Injury reports indicate that Vanderbilt guard Gabe Nesmith is listed with an ankle issue heading into the tipoff. The absence of the guard may influence the defensive structure, though the model projects the team to maintain its offensive output.

The SportsLine projection model, which simulates each contest 10,000 times, predicts the total points will exceed the 155.5 line. The system has an 11-1 record on top-rated over/under picks dating back to 2025. It projects three Commodores to score in double figures, with Ace Glass leading the group at more than 17 points.

Tyler Tanner is expected to add more than 14 points, and Banqot Dak is projected to score more than 10. On the opposite side of the court, the model identifies only one Wake Forest player capable of reaching double-digit scoring. Kevair Kennedy is projected to lead the Demon Deacons with more than 19 points.

The model places a 63% probability on the over hitting. It also indicates that one side of the spread clears the 60% threshold in the simulations, though the specific side is available through the SportsLine platform. The game marks the official start of the 2026-27 college basketball season for both programs.
