Olivia Rodrigo will release her first holiday single, “take me home (4 christmas),” on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. The artist shared the news on Instagram, inviting fans to preorder the track immediately. She described her excitement in a caption that included a Santa Claus emoji and a red heart.
The single drops with a new music video featuring Rodrigo, actor Cynthia Nixon, and Saturday Night Live cast member Ben Marshall. Rodrigo co-wrote the song with frequent collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen. Nigro also handled production for the track.
Physical copies of the song are available for purchase. An exclusive 7-inch vinyl and cassette can be preordered on Rodrigo’s website. The vinyl version is also available for preorder at Target, where it will hit shelves starting Friday.
This release follows the recent launch of a remix for “expectations,” which features Chappell Roan. That original track appeared on Rodrigo’s third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. The remix became the highest peaking all-female collaboration on the Billboard Hot 100 this year. It also pushed the album back to the top of the Billboard 200.
Rodrigo is currently performing on her The Unraveled Tour. The sold-out tour has sold more than 1 million tickets worldwide. A press release noted that the tour has broken several venue records.
