Vanessa Trump Says Breast Cancer Tests Are Clear After April Diagnosis

Vanessa Trump says recent test results show no remaining cancer, months after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in April. "Came back clear, so I'm finally cancer-free," the 48-year-old said in a short video posted Friday to the Instagram account of her daughter, Kai Trump. Vanessa Trump has five children with Donald Trump Jr, the eldest son of President Donald Trump.

The video previews a longer YouTube release planned for Saturday in which mother and daughter discuss breast cancer awareness and prevention, Kai Trump wrote in the caption. She said she sat down with her mother and Dr. Nicole Saphier to talk about the diagnosis and prevention and early detection. "October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about early detection, education, and support for those affected by breast cancer," Kai Trump wrote. The post drew more than 20,000 likes and hundreds of comments, including from singer and media personality Mary Millben.

Vanessa Trump said she was diagnosed in April and made the diagnosis public in May, writing at the time that she had undergone surgery and was working on a treatment plan with her medical team. She separated from Donald Trump Jr in 2018. Last year she announced she had begun dating US pro golfer Tiger Woods.

Breast cancer carries an average risk of about 1 in 8, or 13%, for women in the US, according to the American Cancer Society. The group also reports the disease accounts for 30% of all new female cancers each year. Surgery cures most breast cancers, the society says. Where some disease remains, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and endocrine therapy can lower long-term risk.

Treatment continues to advance, with more targeted therapies for early breast cancer, new types of hormonal therapy, and more precise and effective radiotherapy, according to the American Cancer Society. The longer video featuring Vanessa Trump, Kai Trump and Dr. Nicole Saphier is scheduled for release on Saturday.
