The Minnesota Vikings are still unbeaten.
The team defeated the Indianapolis Colts, 16-10, on Sunday to improve their record to 6-0. This performance secured the top spot in the latest NFL power rankings. It is the first time this season that the Vikings have held that position.
The Vikings have scored 125 points across six games. That total represents only 10 touchdowns. The offense ranks 23rd in the league in scoring. The passing game is even weaker, sitting at 29th in yards per game. Quarterback Kyler Murray is under pressure to improve these numbers before the schedule gets tougher.
The defense is carrying the team. It ranks first in the NFL in scoring defense. Coordinator Brian Flores runs an aggressive system that has kept opponents quiet. That strength allowed the Vikings to beat the Colts even when their offense struggled to move the ball.
The next four weeks will test the team's limits. The Vikings play at the Detroit Lions, then host the Buffalo Bills. They finish the stretch against the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers in Mexico. These opponents are significantly stronger than the Colts. The Vikings will likely need more offensive production to survive this run of games.
The Miami Dolphins have moved into the bottom of the rankings. They beat the New York Jets to get their first win of the season. This result pushed the Los Angeles Chargers below them. The Chargers are 0-6 and are the only team without a win. They sit on a bye this week before facing the Los Angeles Rams.
